ProSail (headsail/mainsail)
Our sail design software is used by 270 lofts worldwide. We believe it is the easiest to use and most productive sail design software available and integrates flawlessly with our automation process.
The first step is to define a 3D mould: Specify the sails overall dimensions, luff, foot, leech etc. Use a previous design or select from one of our samples (over 100 sample designs are included). The mould will be scaled to these new dimensions. Then make any changes to the fundamental curves defining the 3D shape: Depth, Position of depth, Twist, Mast bend or Fore-stay sag, Leech hollow, Luff hollow, Foot round, battens, eyelets, roach and girths.
The second step is to define the panel layout: ProSail will then generate the 2D panels required to produce the 3D sail mould you have just designed. All of these panels will have shape in them along with seam allowances.
Finally these panels are taken to the nesting screen for arrangement and plotting.

Mitre-Cut
Add on module for designing traditional Mitre-cut panel layouts.
PatternMaker
PatternMaker is an add on module and is used for generating radial panel layouts but unlike the normal panels produced by ProSail these panels will have no shape in them. Instead all of the shaping comes from the horizontal seams. Shape in the horizontal seams can be generated in the Headsail/Mainsail or Spinnaker programs or specified directly with PanelMaker. The advantage of this method is it allows for Panel layouts of any complexity with very short design times since you can use your favourite layouts on any sail. The selected layout is simply scaled to fit the new sail size. With horizontal seam shapes coming from PanelMaker, you can use your existing hot designs with more accurate assembly since it is easier to sew a straight edge than a curved one. This is particularly relevant if there are a lot of narrow panels. This method also results in sails that are easier to repair as all the shape is in the horizontal seams.
Spinnaker
Just like the ProSail (headsail/mainsail) software, with the Spinnaker software you specify a 3D mould and desired panel layout and the software will generate the 2D panel shaping required to wrap around that 3D mould.
